played an integral role in implementing health education and promotional
activities from the national to grassroots level. INDEX GROUP worked as a

Planning and a short film about the IEC Components under the Project Director’s
establishment of Bogura Regional Youth Center and Repair, Renovation, and
Monetization of Feni, Rajshahi and Sylhet Youth Training Center Project. The
mission of this project was to assist Bangladesh in achieving the millennium
development goals for sanitation and water supply. We collaborated with the
Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, Representation in
Bangladesh, and the Director, IEM & Line Director, IEC Directorate General
of Family Planning We also organized 128 Orientation Workshops at the district
level for marriage registrars in support of preventing early marriage and
advocating for delayed marriage. Our client for this initiative was the
Director (IEM) & Line Director (IEC), Directorate General of Family
Planning. We held a Inaugural & Technical Workshop for aiming to supply
clean water free of diseases and arsenic to rural regions and small towns. This
was a component of the program for providing water to Bangladesh.
We also completed
some projects, such as the National Youth Congress 2002 and the Youth
Expression Project 2006, which marked the first time in Bangladesh that young
people were producing a comprehensive parenting resource for youngsters. The
primary goal was to identify the elements influencing young people’s lives and
create comprehensive parenting resources for families, educators, and other
social institutions. For these projects, we worked with the Dept. of Narcotics
Control (Ministry of Home Affairs) , BIRBA , CIDA and Bills Malinda Gets
Foundation. Our company also documented a film called “About a Masuma,” based
on the true story of a silent disabled girl whose rights were violated. Masuma,
a mentally disabled young girl, was seduced by a debauched villager who
subsequently refused to acknowledge their child in society. The documentary
showcased the dire living conditions of Masuma in a desolate location and
raised awareness among the public and policymakers about the infringement of
disabled people’s rights. After the tremendous success of this documentary, we
produced another film focusing on the experiences of migrant women working as
garment factory workers. We also undertook projects that aimed to benefit our
country’s farmers, such as the Sericulture Development Project in Rangamati and
Chittagong Districts, Intensive Vegetable Gardening in homestead areas
throughout the year, and the Diversification of Crops program. Our clients for
these projects were IFDAS FOUNDATION, GLOBAL APPROACH FOR TOTAL IMPROVEMENT,
Family and Community Empowerment Support. One of our most notable projects was
the Performance Evaluation of an Integrated HYV Jute and Jute Seeds Production
Program. We collaborated on this research with the research Director of the
Integrated HYV and Jute Seed Production Program, Department of Jute, Ministry
of Textiles. To promote agronomic, technological, and economic research on jute
and related fibers, as well as their manufacture, and to disseminate the
results of such research. The most enjoyable aspect of the project was managing
the production, testing, and delivery of enhanced pedigree jute seeds, as well
as their multiplication, purchase, and distribution to recognized
organizations, selected farmers, and any other agency authorized by the Board.
We collaborated with
the Department of Public Health Engineering, the Ministry of Local Government
Rural Development and Cooperatives, the Local Government Division, for
Bangladesh Arsenic Mitigation Water Supply Project (BAMWSP). The project’s
development purpose is to help Bangladesh reach the millennium development
goals for water supply and sanitation. The project will specifically implement
new strategies to scale up the provision of clean water supply free of arsenic
and pathogens in rural and small town regions. National Youth Congress’ 2002,
Youth Expression Project’ 2006 was such projects where we got chance to work
for youngsters. This is the first time in Bangladesh where young people are
producing entire parenting materials for the youth. The primary goal is to
uncover the elements that influence the lives of kids and create comprehensive
parenting materials for parents, teachers, and other social institutions. This
resource will assist them in guiding the youngsters toward optimal growth. This
content is totally evidence-based due to the incorporation of components such
as: Sharing our lives, Issues in voice, Issues in picture, and Issues in
videography. Courses in practical skill development are meant for people who
want to start a varied project on income generating activities in order to
better their financial status. The ‘Capacity Building’ training provided may be
able to accelerate internal potentials and enable people to participate in the
desired degree of job/business chances. INDEX has been involved in the Small
Scale Water Resources Development Project as a partner organization of the
LGED, Government of Bangladesh, since 2002. INDEX’s primary purpose in this
project is to facilitate subprojects via PRRA.
Mechanized
irrigation has been critical for the survival of farmers and agricultural
laborers in Bangladesh during the last two decades. The purchase and operation
of DTWs, STWs, and LLPs, and hence control over irrigation water, has always
been the realm of male farmers. Since the 1980s, irrigation programs run by
various non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have allowed not just
impoverished male farmers and landless males to have access to these means of
production, but also poor women. This was the primary emphasis of this study
endeavor. Additionally, we focus on food and nutrition-related programs like
the year-round intensive vegetable growing in homestead areas and the program
for crop diversification. Participatory Livestock Development Project and Land
Development Program are a few of the initiatives we completed.
