INDEX Distilleries & Chemicals Ltd. is Bangladesh’s only licensed producer of ethanol. INDEX Distilleries is currently undergoing construction, and I’m pleased to inform you that all government licenses have been successfully obtained. Furthermore, we have diligently addressed and fulfilled all international concerns pertaining to the project. It will be Asia’s largest ethanol plant, with a capacity of 500,000 liters per day.

 

INDEX Distilleries & Chemicals Ltd operates a cutting-edge bio-ethanol factory noted for manufacturing bio-fuel, a sustainable and ecologically beneficial product. We are determined to reduce our carbon footprint and protect natural resources.

 

The bio-fuel has gained widespread recognition in developed countries across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. The Bangladeshi government has mandated the introduction of marketing ethanol mixed gasoline (E5 – a blend of 5% ethanol and auto fuel). The project has been designed to produce an impressive 500,000 liters of ethanol per day. Apart from its use as a biofuel, ethanol has diverse applications in various industries such as personal care products (such as toothpaste, mouthwash, and perfume), household items (such as paint, disinfectant, and cleaner), and food items (such as soy sauce and vinegar). The production of ethanol will result in the creation of by-products, including Dried Distillers Grains (DDGs), which can be utilized as food for poultry and livestock, and carbon dioxide, which can be used in the soft drink industry. Furthermore, the project will generate significant heat to produce electricity, which will amount to approximately 25-30 MW. The electricity generated will be added to the national grid, leading to a sustainable and green energy source for the nation. The company is also actively involved in climate change initiatives aimed at lowering carbon emissions. It contains numerous programs, such as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), for which the corporation received “Certified Emission Reduction Credit. “Furthermore, it is extending its hand in the development of a new enterprise. It also received OHSAS 18001 credits for Health and Safety requirements. The INDEX R&D team has extensively deliberated on the importance of solid awareness regarding carbon trading in Bangladesh. INDEX, as a company, took the initial step in initiating subsidiaries focused on carbon neutrality.
